COVID-19 Requirements

As a graduate institution of health sciences, and for the health and safety of our WesternU Community, many of whom are currently serving patients on the frontline, WesternU is strongly recommending ALL ATTENDEES wear masks while indoors at all times. At this time, proof of COVID-19 vaccine or a negative PCR test are not required for entry.  Please note these guidelines are subject to change per Pasadena City and Linn County guidelines.

Planning for 2022

The University’s goal is to provide a safe and memorable experience for our graduates. Students overwhelmingly expressed two top priorities for their Commencement experience: in-person and safe. The WesternU Commencement Core Team plans to host five in-person ceremonies at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium from May 18-20, 2022, as published as “future dates” on the Commencement website. These five ceremonies will include traditional elements, however, to comply with health and safety standards, graduates will be hooded by a designated faculty member or trustee.

While we hope to deliver an in-person ceremony, we would be remise to not have a contingency plan. We are bound by, and will strictly adhere to, federal, state and local health and safety restrictions. The University may be required to reduce guest tickets for social distancing or pivot to a completely virtual ceremony. We will keep you informed as best as possible as plans develop.

In adherence to national, state, and regional directives about group gatherings during the coronavirus outbreak, WesternU has cancelled in-person 2020 Commencement Exercises in California and Oregon. We recognize how saddening and painful this decision is, and our colleges and administrators worked diligently on an alternative means of celebrating and honoring our 2020 graduates during this unprecedented crisis.
